In general, Forensic Science Services responds to the following types of crime
scenes: homicides or questioned deaths, officer-involved shootings,
clandestine laboratories, and any scene where fingerprinting or impressions
are needed (or
requested by an agency). The Forensic Science Services Identification-Field Bureau handles the
latent fingerprints, impressions, and photography for all scenes; the
Criminalistics Bureau handles the collection of evidence at homicides and
clandestine lab scenes. Forensic Sciences handles most homicide crime scenes for Orange County and
most of the clandestine lab scenes. Many of the individual police agencies
throughout the County conduct their own latent fingerprinting.
As such, Forensic Sciences responds to crime scenes in non-incorporated
areas of the County, or if a local police agency requests Forensic Science
Service's assistance. Many of the communities and cities displayed below will
show minimal responses because the local police agencies have handled these
calls. The table below plots most of the call-outs Forensic Science Services has handled during the listed six month period. With Identification field call-outs, those handled by individual police agencies are not shown, and call-outs outside of Orange County are not shown.
